Smt. Urmila Mittal Memorial Trust (SUMMT) is a Delhi based NGO, dedicated for imparting education of underprivileged girls of the society. SUMMT was formally established on 7th December 2011 by the Founder, Trustee and Chairman, Mr. C D Mittal in the loving memory of his mother who was a true epitome of sacrifice, love and humanity. Following the footsteps of his mother, Mr. C D Mittal through SUMMT performs charities and funds the deprived and economically weaker section of the society.
The Founder has a strong belief that “If we educate a man, we educate an individual but if we educate a woman we educate an entire family”. Belonging to a family of freedom fighters in Barauli, district Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, he developed a deep and direct insight to the plight of people in rural India suffering from poverty, lack of proper healthcare and basic education. SUMMT came to existence with the aim to combat and overcome such challenges and is constantly making strong efforts to bring some qualitative changes in the life of peoples at the bottom of the society through education as SUMMT believes that education is an essential prerequisite for socio-economic development.
For nurturing intelligent and talented girl students from deprived communities, we offer scholarship programmes which can go a long way in attaining the goal of quality education to all. The Scholarship Programme is designed to encourage and help talented girls to realise their dreams and to contribute in socio-economic development of the society and country. The inspiration behind SUMMT'S existence came from Late Smt. Urmila Mittal's comprehension about importance of good education.
